The popular harvest festival, Lohri, falls on 13th January when the sun enters into the new sign. It marks the end of the winter season and the beginning of a new season for the farmers mainly in Punjab and Haryana. More than a festival; Lohri is a day for thanksgiving.The day begins with merriments combined with traditional dance of bhangra and rhythmic sounds from indigenous instruments such as gidda and the dhol.
Wittians of Grade 1 to 5 (CBSE, CAIE) enthusiastically participated in a dance session on the beats of Punjabi music. They showed their gratitude to God for his provisions, care, protection and blessings. Through this activity children conveyed the meaning of unity and celebrating a brotherhood spirit while giving thanks to the Almighty for the bountiful life on mother earth.
