Make in India

The 15th Annual day function at Witty International School, Pawan Baug was an expression of creativity and imagination portrayed by the students in accordance with the theme “Make in India” to express the rich culture and heritage of the Nation. The event was graced with the presence of Karsan Ghavri, Vishwaraj Jadeja and Aishwarya Bhadari who are great stalwarts in the fields of cricket, ice-skating and music respectively, truly making India proud with their glorious achievements.


The programme commenced with the Namokar Vandana followed by a spectacular Welcome dance displaying the length and breadth of India which left the audience spellbound. The Principal, Mr. Bijo Kurian presented the Annual Day speech while the Annual Report of the School’s achievements and accolades was put across by a group of students through a mock parliament termed “Witty News”. It was indeed informative as well as a moment of pride for the school to have come a long way. This was followed by the felicitation ceremony to applaud the students for the meritorious achievements this year.
A splendid blend of dances and drama was incorporated which showcased the true spirit of ‘Make in India’. The dances truly ranged across a broad gamut of Hip-Hop, MJ Bhangra, Folk, Bollywood freestyle, Classical, Tollywood, Horror dance, Robotic Lavni amongst others which truly set the stage on fire. The highlight of the show was the shadow dance which featured the concept of Clean India - Green India. The occasion was also marked by a rendition of poems in the Kavi Sammelan which symbolised humour, patriotism, etc. A musical Kawalli also enthralled the audience with their foot-tapping rhythmic music. The story of our 15th Annual Day revolved around the family of a kind and compassionate woman and her vision to see India at its glorious best. Her son’s dream to build a top construction company is hampered by the vicious clutches of the corrupt officials present. However, the family doesn’t give up easily; and decide to teach the corrupt officials a lesson and hit upon a plan to unveil the heinous crimes undertaken so that millions of other entrepreneurs are given a chance to fulfil their dreams.

At the Pre-school level, participation and experiential learning form the key aids of instruction and this is what the children exhibited at the concert. The musical, titled The Incredible Indian Adventures Of Aladdin And Friends took the audience through an exciting enchanted journey with Aladdin, into the land of culture and tradition Incredible India. Students from Play group to grade 7 performed dances which perfectly complimented the theme. The dance performances depicted the culture and the religious traditions of India. Each class performed with colourful props adding more beauty to the art. The theme for this year was ‘Make in India’ which had Vasco da Gama  and Sindabad visiting India and Namo and Chankya touring them through the states .They briefed them about the industries and India’s underlying potential for manufacturing. On this tour Sindabad and Vasco also witnessed India’s vibrant culture and the awe – inspiring tourist spots.
Founder and Chairperson, Dr. Vinay Jain stated, “I believe that every child has a seed of creativity inside. If we nurture those artistic seeds by teaching them to exercise their creativity skills from a young age they will blossom with holistic personalities. This is our step towards cultivating the habit of positive attitude and social skills.”  It was a memorable day for some of our students who had excelled in sports, music and fine arts at the State and the National level Competitions as they were felicitated and honoured by the Guest of Honour for the event. The chief guests spoke about their achievements and experience in their respective fields.
 Principal, Bijo Kurian addressed, Our accomplishments over the past many years and our reputation as one of the city’s top schools exemplify the success of our educational model – an international school with an Indian mind, an Indian heart and an Indian soul. All these inspire us to continue to do our best, in preparing children for the 21st century.”

Among the most acknowledged shows were the UV act and Tron dance providing an amazing visual impact that wowed the audience. The UV act was one of the most magical acts, weaving its spell through a multitude of props and visual tricks conveying the history of India.
The finale rendered vibrantly by the students was befitting the theme of the Annual Day and to the feelings of everyone. With this, it was the curtain call for this year’s celebration with the message to each one that India is indeed a great and wonderful nation that has bestowed numerous of remarkable reasons to its people to cherish and to feel proud of.
