Swing & Swirl - International Dance Workshop

Every student in today’s competitive environment is required to eat, sleep and breathe academics on a daily basis. Students are expected to excel and show progress throughout the year, but what about those students who want more out of their experience in school than just acing a test? How can someone express themselves in other ways outside of a classroom?

Witty International Schoolaimsat providing an enabling environment that helps nurture and develop every child's unique talent and potential to the fullest. We believe that education must help children to excel holistically across academics, sports, arts and co-curricular pursuits.

At Witty International School, Pawan Baug, these tenets are central to our philosophy and inspire us in everything that we do. Aworkshop on ‘Bollywood Dance – Swing ‘n’ Swirl, was organised on the 21st of July 2018for the students of grade 6 to 10 to give them an opportunity to unwind from the daily humdrum of academic stress. The workshop was conducted under the guidance of the the well-known exponent of Bollywood Dancing, Tijorolls George.

The workshop was a  great way for students to release their energy, shed inhibitions and vent out emotions. Through this workshop, students learnt teamwork, focus, and improvisational skills. It awakened new perceptions in children which helped them learn and think in new ways.

Speaking about the need to indulge in such activities, Bijo Kurian, Principal of Witty International School, said, “It is our school's endeavour to provide children with opportunities to learn in multidimensional ways and explore the limitless possibilities in their quest for knowledge. I believe dance has enormous potential that enables students to develop many fundamental life skills, such as problem-solving, creativity, critical and expressive communication skills. It also has physical benefits such as supporting the development of a child’s body balance, improving coordination, motor skills, etc., and can play a positive role in promoting fitness and healthy lifestyles”.
